I S4C Design Contest Submission: Tako

Tako“Tako” is a city car which has been developed with a high interior in order to achieve the maximum passenger comfort. The body is modular in design and the transmission is completly automatic. The computer enables the car to physically link to other cars which are travelling in the same direction, like a ‘train’. The aim is that this future system will reduce tailbacks, congestion and accidents.

Renault wins eco-design award for the Modus dashboard

The ecological design of the Modus dashboard has earned Renault second prize in the "Eco-products for Sustainable Development" category in the 2005 Entreprises & Environnement Award. The award recognizes Renault's success in meeting the challenge of recycling in vehicle design. The Modus dashboard illustrates Renault's systematic approach, which focuses on using recycled materials, controlling the composition of those materials, and improving recyclability. Nelly Olin, France's Minister for Ecology and Sustainable Development, presented the award on November 29, 2005 at the Pollutec trade show.

An LA Adventure

Automobile designers love to develop projects that are free-thinking and offer a chance to explore ideas without the restriction of rigid production restrictions. This is the genesis of the Design Challenge, which is a competition among Los Angeles area automobile manufacturer design studios.

The theme for the Design Challenge is 'An LA Adventure' and is a reflection of the myriad of activities inherent to Southern California. To participate, studio designers determined what their adventure is and then designed a vehicle specifically to enjoy thir chosen activity.

2005 Subaru B5-TPH

Subaru B5-TPH

Symmetrical all-wheel drive specialist, Subaru, is to display a high-powered concept car at the ‘39th Tokyo Motor Show’ which is also an environmentally-conscious hybrid.

Called the B5-TPH, for ‘Turbo Parallel Hybrid’, the three-door coupe combines a 260 PS 2.0 litre ‘boxer’ engine with an electric generator/motor fitted between the engine and transmission.
