SEAT presents the León Prototype

At a world premiere today at the Geneva Motor Show, SEAT unveiled the León Prototype, a vehicle that promotes the image of the future León generation while building on the sporty character of the current model. This new prototype also implements some of the concept features already seen in the acclaimed Salsa, a concept car exhibited originally at this same show in the year 2000.

With the Birdcage 75th, based on the Maserati heritage and on its most advanced mechanicals and realized in collaboration with Motorola, Pininfarina revives the storied theme of the true dream car now proposed in a synthesis of the vision of the three companies: exclusive design, sports DNA and technological innovation. Pininfarina’s prosperous collaboration with Maserati, marked by the great international success of the Quattroporte, is celebrated with this rolling hi-tech sculpture that evokes a new future context, imaginary but possible, while simultaneously paying homage to the strong and distinctive brand characteristics of the Tridente.

Barcelona, February 10, 2005. Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) of Barcelona and the Hyundai Motor Company present the 2005 thesis projects completed by the students of the Automotive Design Course at IED- the first and only university course that covers this discipline in the nation- (Spain).

The third Peugeot Design Competition has been won by André Costa, a young Portuguese designer with an outstanding design called ‘Moovie’. The vehicle represents the designer’s vision of a future not too far away, and resembles a predominantly glass vessel which can accommodate two passengers.

The occupants are in perfect harmony with the vehicle, being protected by its structure yet not cut off from the outside environment. ‘Moovie’ sits on two wheels and two adjustable spheres which give it great agility in all situations.

Introduction

This tutorial will explain the way to obtain a half-an-hour sketch by using a superposition technique. You can use this technique as an easy way to explore the volumes and shapes without the needing of a study of the reflections (although they can be shown).

One of the main advantages of using this technique is that you must not be worried about colours, but about light and darkness.

Students from the Istituto Europeo di Design, in Turin, will present their projects at the Geneva International Motor Show, including an interesting FIAT concept and five projects inspired by Jaguar.

Steve Mattin has been appointed new Design Director at Volvo Car Corporation.

Steve Mattin has had a long career at DaimlerChrysler with several major design projects under his responsibility. He is now leaving the Senior Design Manager position at DaimlerChrysler and will start his new job as Vice President and Design Director at Volvo Car Corporation in May 1.

Turin, 1^st February 2005 - The new Alfa Romeo Brera is to make its debut at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show, the venue chosen for the first public appearance in 2002 of the original Giorgetto-Giugiaro designed concept car, which has gone on to gain international acclaim.

Brera is a 2+2 of generous dimensions: 1830mm wide, 4414mm in length and 1372mm high, although the deeply tapered front and rear styling creates the impression of a very compact car. The interior has an ambience that is both cosy and sophisticated.
